A Little Moody: Bringing Rich Color Into Your Home
October Design Inspiration for New Construction and the Home You Already Love.
I've been loving rich browns and golden yellows lately. Think chocolate, mustard, warm woods, and creamy neutrals. There's something about these colors that makes a home feel cozy, sophisticated, and full of character.
Maybe it's October talking, but I'm loving this moodier direction in interior design. And the best part is how easily it can work in any season.
If you're building new, there are some beautiful ways to bring warmth into your cabinetry, flooring, and finishes. If you're refreshing your current home, a new paint color, statement furniture, or updated lighting can completely change the feel of a room.
Let's look at a few ways to bring this look home, along with some things to consider when it comes to long-term style and resale.
Rich chocolate tones, warm walnut cabinetry, and cozy, character-filled spaces. Three beautiful ways to bring a little mood into your home, from the living room to the kitchen and home office.
A Few Colors to Try at Home
Loving these looks? Here are a few paint colors that capture those rich browns and golden yellows I've been drawn to lately. From a cozy home office to a warm, inviting living room, these shades can bring a little personality into any space.
Hasbrouck Brown HC-71 | Benjamin Moore — A rich, dramatic brown that would be beautiful in an office or dining room.
Golden Fleece SW 6388 | Sherwin-Williams — A warm golden yellow that brings a little sunshine and character into a room.
Urbane Bronze SW 7048 | Sherwin-Williams — A deep, earthy neutral that pairs beautifully with warm woods and brass.
White Dove OC-17 | Benjamin Moore — A soft white that gives those richer colors room to shine.
And a little tip before you commit: Try a few samples in your own space. Natural light, flooring, and surrounding finishes can make a big difference in how a color looks throughout the day.
October Market Update: What's Happening Around Omaha?
Fall is here, and the Omaha-area housing market is keeping things interesting!
According to Realtor.com's September 2026 report, here's where things stand across the Omaha–Council Bluffs metro area:
$389,498 median asking price, nearly unchanged from last September.
2,659 homes for sale, down 4.2% compared to last year.
37 median days on the market, about two days faster than a year ago.
What does that mean for you? Buyers have fewer homes to choose from, so being prepared matters when the right one comes along. For sellers, fewer competing listings can be encouraging, but thoughtful pricing and presentation are still important.
Every neighborhood and price range tells a slightly different story. If you're curious about what homes are selling for in your area, or you're weighing an existing home against new construction, I'd be happy to help you explore your options.

Around Town: There There Is Coming Soon
A new spot to keep on your radar! There There, an all-day café, wine bar, and market, is coming to 3020 Leavenworth Street.
The concept includes European-inspired small plates, baked goods, and a selection of low-intervention wines. Sounds like a great future spot for a casual meeting, catching up with friends, or enjoying a glass of wine after work.
I'm excited to see this one come together!
A Few Fall To-Dos Around the House
Before the Nebraska cold settles in, October is a great time to tackle a few things around the house.
Clear the gutters. Falling leaves can clog drainage and cause problems when snow and ice arrive.
Check your furnace. Replace the filter and schedule a tune-up if needed.
Disconnect outdoor hoses. Drain and winterize exterior faucets before freezing temperatures arrive.
Check for drafts. A little weatherstripping around doors and windows can help keep the heat inside.
A little attention now can save you some headaches this winter.
Until Next Month!
Here's to cozy spaces, discovering new favorites around Omaha, and enjoying all that fall has to offer! Have questions about the local market or plans for your next move? I'd love to connect.
